Powder Puff Derby

Chopticon’s annual Powder Puff game is an important event that promotes inclusivity, teamwork, and the celebration of female athleticism.

The energy and athleticism of all the teams demonstrated an outstanding showcase of sportsmanship from all the girls. It was apparent that the girls were having fun and enjoying themselves as they played. Escapers member Malia Tillstrum says that she had no prior football experience. Yet, she was “so excited” to play her first game. Mrs. Tillstrum then went on to score various touchdowns throughout the games, demonstrating the passion and energy pumping through all the girls, not just Malia.

As the games progressed, the stands filled with anticipation as the final match got closer. Finally, after all the other teams had been eliminated, only two remained: Team Powerade and Team Gatorade. People began placing bets on who would win and were cheering for their favorite team. This match was highly anticipated since Team Gatorade had a two-year winning streak at the Powder Puff Derbies. People were on the edge of their seats as the two energy drinks battled out, scoring plenty of touchdowns on either side. However, after a long battle, the final whistle blew, and team Powerade reigned victorious over Gatorade. The crowds were cheering as Team Powerade celebrated their new victory, breaking the two-year streak Team Gatorade had once had.

The success of the Girls Powder Puff Derby once again reinforces Chopticon High School’s commitment to providing an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, empowering them to reach new heights both on and off the track. Powerade’s victory is a reminder that when girls come together with determination and passion, they can conquer any field, leaving a legacy of strength and empowerment for those who follow in their footsteps.
