Finishing up its 2025-2026 season, Bravehouse Productions is proud to present its upcoming production of Once Upon a Mattress. Bringing big laughs, bold characters, and unforgettable music to the stage, members of the CHS community won’t want to miss this show.
The show will run on April 9th and 10th at 6 p.m., and on April 11th at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are currently available online. Adult tickets are $14 and student tickets are $10.
Based on the classic fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea,” this musical comedy flips the traditional story on its head. In a kingdom ruled by the overbearing Queen Aggravain, no one is allowed to marry until her shy and awkward son, Prince Dauntless, finds a “true genuine” princess.
The catch? The queen has sabotaged every potential bride with impossible tests, which causes great issues for a specific couple in the kingdom that must get married soon. That is, until Princess Winnifred the Woebegone arrives loud, fearless, and completely unexpected. What follows is a hilarious battle of wills, wild schemes, and one very uncomfortable mattress.
Originally opening on Broadway in 1959 and starring Carol Burnett as Princess Winnifred, Once Upon a Mattress has become a beloved musical known for its over-the-top humor and charming score. Songs like “Shy,” “In a Little While,” and “Happily Ever After” bring heart and humor together in a way that keeps audiences laughing from beginning to end.
The cast and crew have been working hard to bring the vibrant story to life. Bravehouse will truly amaze audience members, from its grand castle-like set to its array of talented actors and musicians. From colorful medieval-inspired costumes to energetic dance numbers, this production promises to showcase a classic, lovely, lighthearted fairytale to enjoy this spring.
