Patty Kuzmick Pierce began her musical journey at an early age in her church choir, which became the catalyst for her lifelong passion for music. Her passion for music and teaching inspired her students at Chopticon High school to set a high standard of choral performance with superior concerts, musicals, and madrigal dinners. During her years at Chopticon she was active in local, district, and state choral events and served as president of the Maryland Choral Educators Association. She was instrumental in the inauguration of the Maryland All State Women’s Choir and also started an adult community choir known as St. Maries Musica. She served as choir director at St. Mary’s Trinity Church, and was extremely proud of her membership in the Robert Shaw Chorale and the Kennedy Center’s Washington Chorus. In her later years, her voice sang on through the playing of her beloved Celtic Harp, and continues to sing on through the many students she inspired deeply over her 30 years of teaching. Her impact and spirit of joy resounds in “all ye who music love” as her legacy lives on.
