Sustainability Focus Areas and Resources

Topical based focus areas provide an important entry point for environmental literacy, sustainability, and climate mitigation efforts. The Environmental Literacy and Sustainability Initiative (ELSI) has selected a number of focus areas drawn from prominent topical/category based frameworks such as the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These focus areas are the most relevant to everyday facilities and operations, connect to important local environmental issues, and are appropriate as central themes for lessons and units of study in curriculum and instruction. Each Focus Area page includes the following resources:
