Pre-Learning For First-Time Fellows (FTF)
The purpose of this module is to support First-Time Fellows to explore different perspectives on the environmental crisis facing humanity today.
Everyone in the fellowship has a different level of background knowledge on key environmental topics such as ecological overshoot, climate change, and environmental and climate justice. This task is an invitation to do some knowledge building using whichever pre-curated resources are appropriate for your level of understanding.
This pre-learning task supports fellows to explore the philosophical and operational shifts needed for implementing effectively. The intended outcome of this master class is to develop a shared vocabulary and lens for the foundational philosophies driving this fellowship, as well as build the toolkit of teaching strategies for environmentally focused solutionary teaching and learning.

An important part of the teacher fellowship is to empower teachers to engage with the outdoors as a healing practice, and to gain a strong foundation in outdoor and nature-based learning. Outdoor learning is critical for students' cognitive and social emotional development, as well as physical health. This pre-learning task supports fellows to explore a mindful approach to interaction with the living world, which can awaken a great flow of energy in students.
