2-3 faculty, instructors, and/or staff who are charged with development of chemistry laboratory curriculum
Two curricular designers must participate to provide the support and capacity for successful implementation at the home institution
All categories of faculty, staff, and/or instructors are eligible as long as the development of chemistry laboratory experiments is part of their assigned duties
Teams must include 1 student worker. These students are an essential part of each team!
Provide student perspective in development process and implementation support
Student workers can be undergraduate or graduate students depending on the institutional context of the team
Student workers will be compensated out of the grant for their work during the summer ($3,000 stipend) and for implementation support during one semester/term of the year following the Summer Institute ($1,700 stipend).
By participating in the CLC Innovators Program, institutional teams are agreeing to:
Complete the 3 pre-institute assignments
Attend the Summer Institute in its entirety
Attend and engage in the 5 virtual meetings in the year post-institute
Participate in the project's data collection practices (see below)
One of the goals of this community transformation program is to broaden the field’s understanding of the factors that impact chemistry laboratory curricular reform. Thus, institutional teams will be expected to engage in the data collection process described in the overview section of this website. This will include activities such as surveys, interviews, and providing curriculum design artifacts for evaluation by the leadership team. It will also include a survey given to all students involved in the laboratory implementation at the home institution. A detailed description of these data collection practices will be provided via an IRB consent form prior to participation.
