In this activity, acrobats hold two sets of weights in each hand. Students choose the number of weights in each set to help the acrobats balance.
Add cubes to the balance using different values.
Students can build mental math fluency (speed + accuracy) by using the addition or subtraction flashcards and recording their score. Each time they practise they can try to beat their previous score. The goal is to get over 90% twice before moving on to the next level.
Help your child count by 5's, 10's, 25's by moving the appropriate coins with their finger.
Or ask them to identify the images on each of the coins.
Invite the describe the "value of 3 quarters" or "the value of 2 dimes"....etc.
Ask your child to explain if the value of the coins is represented accurately with the blocks...and to explain how they know:
Practice adding and subtracting at home. Ask your child or email their teacher for their PIN to access their account.
Below students could practice efficiently representing numbers using the cubes that they use at school.
