🌱SMART Essentials🌱 Required for all site coordinators and volunteer readers. A one-hour introduction to SMART's mission, vision, and values; how the organization operates; and a high-level overview of the topics covered in subsequent webinars.
🧠Science-Based Reading🧠 Optional training. A 30-minute deep dive into the fundamental elements of literacy and language acquisition. Volunteers will learn practical strategies to reinforce essential skills during their reading sessions.
💜Supporting Students with Heart💜 Optional training. A 30-minute trauma-informed webinar supporting students with challenging behaviors. Volunteers will gain practical skills to apply during reading sessions. NOTE: This training was previously titled Trauma Informed Practices. If you took Trauma Informed Practices during FY25, you do not need to take this webinar again.
📙Importance of Inclusive Books📙 Optional training. A 30-minute lesson on how kids benefit when given access to books. This includes books that mirror their identities/experiences and books that provide a window into the lived experiences of others.
