Indonesia is famous for its beautiful natural wealth from land to sea. However, as time goes by, there are remnants of daily human activities that have accumulated from year to year, especially plastic waste. This plastic waste has already polluted the Indonesian seas so that it can disrupt marine biota. In reality, plastic waste cannot disappear from the earth as long as human activities are still running. Therefore, it is necessary to make an innovation to reduce the use of plastic waste. Therefore, edible plastic can be a solution because it is easily decomposed. In addition, this edible plastic is safe to use by humans. This edible plastic can be used as food wrap or food seasoning. Another advantage of this edible plastic is the basic ingredients to make it easily accessible, such as a plasticizer consisting of cassava starch or potato starch. This study aims to obtain facts about the use of cassava and potato starch in the manufacture of edible plastics as an alternative to using plastic materials that are difficult to decompose and to determine the impact of edible plastics on humans and the environment. This research was conducted using experimental research methods by making comparisons of the formulas used in making edible plastics in order to obtain formulas that are environmentally friendly and good for human consumption. The impact of this research is that edible plastic can be used as a substitute for plastic materials that are difficult to decompose. This research can be a reliable source of information regarding the feasibility of using edible plastics in everyday life, because this is still the choice of a minority in society.
