Dr. Ankesh Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad (IIT Palakkad), India. Before joining IIT Palakkad, he was a faculty member at the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) in Surat, Gujarat. Dr. Kumar received his Ph.D. and M.Tech. degrees in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), specializing in Rock Engineering and Underground Structures, and his B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy).

Dr. Kumar's research focuses on Geotechnical Engineering, especially Rock Mechanics, Tunneling, Underground Construction, Slope Stability, and emerging applications for Geothermal Energy. His academic research integrates experimental methodologies with sophisticated numerical modeling and analytical tools, all aimed at the advancement of robust and sustainable subsurface infrastructure.
