Core Vision
Our research group at IIT Palakkad is dedicated to addressing critical challenges in geomechanics and rock engineering by bridging theoretical advances with practical solutions for industry and society. Our expertise spans rock engineering, petroleum-related rock mechanics, underground structures, blast and impact loading, energy geotechnics, slope stability (rock and soil), and machine foundations. Through advanced experimental methods and computational modeling, we investigate the mechanical behavior of geological materials under diverse loading and environmental conditions, aiming to improve infrastructure stability, optimize resource extraction, and develop innovative approaches to hazard mitigation.
We are committed to improving the stability and safety of infrastructure, optimizing oil and gas extraction, and developing innovative approaches to hazard mitigation, including blasting and seismic events. Our research on slope stability emphasizes predictive modeling and real-time monitoring to prevent geotechnical failures, while our work on machine foundations enhances resilience to dynamic industrial and natural forces.
Collaborating closely with academic, industry, and government partners, our group strives to advance scientific understanding and practical applications in geomechanics. Our goal is to support sustainable development, resource management, and the long-term safety and resilience of infrastructure.
