Research

I am advocating the use of discrete particle models for studying the effect of microstructure and its evolution in the mechanical response of materials. We have developed a new approach which we call Constitutively informed Particle Dynamics (CPD) to study the response of materials with very general constitutive behaviour which were not hitherto accessible to discrete particle approaches.

Our group has used and developed several aspects of the multi order parameter phase field model. We have developed appropriate phase field models for

1. Polycrystalline grain growth in presence of mobile particles

2. Recrystallization kinetics

3. Abnormal grain growth
