Dr. Kiran Raj M joined the Department of Applied Mechanics and Biomedical Engineering at IIT Madras as an Assistant Professor in 2022 and leads the team at FLOW Lab. Before joining IIT Madras, he held a couple of postdoctoral appointments at Institut Curie (France), University of Waterloo (Canada) and National University of Singapore (Singapore). He graduated with B Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calicut and further received his M Tech and PhD from IIT Kharagpur with a specialization in Microfluidics.
Mohd Rafe Ali graduated with a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rajasthan Technical University, Kota. He joined the FLOW Lab in 2023 to pursue his Master of Science (MS) and then upgraded it to the PhD program in 2025. Presently, his work focuses on the droplet impact on curved surfaces.
Tanishq has completed his Masters in Mathematics (Hons.) in 2023 from the Centre of Advanced Studies in Mathematics, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He graduated from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar, Haryana with B.Sc. in Mathematics (Hons.) in 2021. His research interests include both theoretical and experimental aspects of fluid mechanics particularly at micro scales. He is associated with FLOW Lab to pursue his PhD in the area of droplet microfluidics.
Sruthi Kumar completed her Bachelor of Technology in Biotechnology (First class with Distinction) from the Anna University, Chennai. Further, she received her Master of Science (by Research) in Molecular Biology from the Auburn University, Alabama, USA. She is associated with the FLOW Lab to pursue her PhD on 'Tumor spheroids in Microchip for Cancer Studies' under the supervision of Prof. Kiran Raj M and Prof. Ashis Kumar Sen from the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Madras.
Sourav Ganguly earned his B.Sc. in Mathematics (Hons.) and received an M.Sc. with a specialisation in Applied Mathematics. Before joining FLOW Lab in 2023, he worked as a subject matter expert at a leading Ed-Tech platform. He is interested in Experimental fluid mechanics, particularly droplet microfluidics and is also keen to solve the problems analytically. While not working, he enjoys reading, movies and cricket and writes screenplays for drama.
Abhilash earned his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Christ College of Engineering, Thrissur, Kerala and his M.Tech. in Internal Combustion Engines and Turbo Machinery from the Government Engineering College, Thrissur, Kerala. He is passionate about working on problems at the intersection of experiments and numerical simulations within the domain of microfluidics.
Aneesh V completed his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Govt. Engineering College Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and further received his M.Tech in Energy Engineering & Management from the National Institute of Technology, Calicut. Before joining IIT Madras, he worked as an Assistant Professor at a private engineering college affiliated to the Kerala Technical University. At FLOW Lab, he is pursuing his PhD in microscale transport phenomena. Currently, he is serving as an Assistant Professor at the Directorate of Technical Education, Kerala.
Sachin completed his bachelor's in biotechnology from APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala, in 2019 and his master's in biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, in 2021. He worked as a research fellow in CSIR Central Food Technological Institute, Mysore, for 3 years before joining IIT Madras in 2024. He is involved with the FLOW lab for his PhD work involving next-generation nano-carrier development for drug delivery in organ-on-chip devices for cancer nanotherapy under the guidance of Prof. Swathi Sudhakar and Prof. Kiran Raj. While not at work, he loves travelling and is active in football, singing and dancing.
Partha Dutta holds a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and is currently pursuing his MS by Research in Applied Mechanics at IIT Madras. His research focuses on droplet impact phenomena, combining experimental and computational approaches to understand the underlying physics.
Murali is currently pursuing his M.S. (Research) program with the FLOW lab under the guidance of Prof. Swathi Sudhakar and Prof. Kiran Raj M. He completed his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Puducherry Technological University, Puducherry in 2024. His research interests include scientific computing, CFD, microfluidics, and lab/organ-on-a-chip systems, with a focus on applying his knowledge to solve problems in biological applications. Apart from academics, he is passionate about Football and Dance.
Devashree is currently pursuing an M.Tech in Biomedical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. She is associated with the FLOW Lab for her final-year project, where her research focuses on biomicrofluidics. She holds a B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering (2024) from Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management, Nagpur. Her research interests lie in biomicrofluidics and organ-on-chip technologies.
Priyadharsini M has joined the FLOW Lab as a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on the experimental and numerical investigations of blood flow in tumor spheroids. She completed her B.Sc. in Mathematics from Stella Maris College, Chennai, M.Sc. from PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, and M.Phil. from Anna University, Chennai. She earned her Ph.D in Mathematics from VIT University, Chennai, on the mathematical analysis of magnetohydrodynamic blood flow. Her research interests include blood flow dynamics, biofluids, bioheat transfer, and nanofluid dynamics.
Antony Xavier graduated with a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering (2023) from the National Institute of Technology, Calicut, where he also completed his M.Tech. in Manufacturing Technology (2025). His master’s thesis focused on Drop-on-Demand metal additive manufacturing of copper using magnetohydrodynamics. He is currently a Junior Research Fellow at the FLOW Lab, working on the development of a microfluidic device for cancer drug screening. Outside of research, he enjoys learning catholic theology and engaging in conversations on society and culture.
Faaiza Ibrahim completed her B.Sc. in Biomedical Science (Hons) from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai and earned her M.Sc. in Biomedical Genetics from the University of Madras, Taramani. Her interests lie at the interface of biology and biotechnology. She is associated with FLOW Lab as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to model a microfluidic device for understanding sperm motility, under an ANRF-funded project (PI: Prof. Danny Raj M, Department of Applied Mechanics and Biomedical Engineering, IIT Madras)
