Reading is foundational for all other subjects that students will study. Reading is one of the most important skills for a child to develop before moving up in grades. Students are not always the most keen to read, but we should encourage reading, and encourage students to read books that they would enjoy.

If you are a parent reading this, I would highly suggest for you to encourage your child to read, and try and figure out what your student enjoys the most so you can also read to them. Children are better readers when they are read to by teachers and/or parents. I, as their teacher, will try to find books they would find interesting and I hope you do too!
