Special Education Information & Procedures
San Leandro Unified School District
San Leandro Unified School District believes the purpose of special education is to provide a high quality, safe, and inclusive educational program that supports students with special needs to reach their full academic and behavioral potential in preparation for life and success in college and career through specialized services provided, to the maximum extent possible, in the general education learning environment.
The purpose of the Special Education Program Procedural Manual is to detail for staff the policies and procedures related to special education. This guide complies with state and federal regulations, as well as guidelines provided by the Mid-Alameda County SELPA. The guide was developed based on recommendations from both the SLUSD Special Education Task Force and the California Department of Education Verification Review, in direct alignment with the SLUSD Strategic Plan.
