4th Grade 2021-2022

Room 60

Week of 2/14

As we move into Black History Month in February, students will be exploring different authors, scientists, engineers, musicians and poets who made contributions to our society and left their mark on the world. We will be exploring the ideas of identity, self, empathy and perseverance.

Students who are unable to attend class in person classes should check Google Classroom and the assignment portion of this website daily. They should work to complete a daily reading log and keep up to date with Zearn. I will try to ensure that most assignments can be accessed digitally. If students are not in class to get the weekly vocabulary packet, they should log into Learning A-Z and look for the weekly vocabulary activities.

We continue to emphasize the importance of proper mask usage both as a class and as a school community. Reviewing these guidelines with your student is much appreciated.

Students will finish presenting their Biography Reports and are working on interviewing and writing a biography on a fellow classmate.

In science, students are working in groups to make presentations about preparing for different natural disasters. Group work can have inherent frustrations. It is my role to guide students in establishing guidelines for collaborative learning. If your student expresses frustration with specific aspects of the project or their group dynamic, please let me know so I can jump in and facilitate a conversation with the group members.

Our writing emphasis has been proper use of commas, irregular plural nouns and compound sentences.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I hope you have a wonderful and healthy week.
