The mission of the CIER is to develop a health care workforce that is prepared to practice and teach effective team-based care and interprofessional collaborative practice by integrating research-inspired, high-value, humanistic care.
To accomplish this mission, the CIER collaborates across the health professions schools, residency programs and clinical practices to:
Prepare health professions graduates and health care providers for interprofessional patient-centered, collaborative practice.
Advance the practice of effective and efficient interprofessional team-based care to improve individual patient and population health outcomes.
Advance research and scholarly activity of interprofessional education and collaborative practice.
Effective team-based care and interprofessional collaboration are essential to reliable, high-quality care and outcomes and accomplishing the quadruple aim:
Improved individual patient care and outcomes
Improved patient population and community health
Improved high-value, cost-effective care
Improved provider and care-team wellbeing
