Introduction to the QI Database Project
The QI database has been developed as a repository of resources related to Patient Safety and Quality Improvement (PS/QI) and as an educational tool to support SLU Medical Faculty and Residents in identifying, developing, and mentoring in the process of Quality Improvement.
Register: This site is a closed site for SLU School of Medicine to support learning and practice of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). Registered Users must be current faculty, residents, providers, students, or staff affiliated with Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Users will be moved to an “Inactive” status upon program completion, graduation, or leaving SLU.
Resources: Identification of Patient Safety and Quality Priorities for SLU School of Medicine, Residency, SLUCare and our SSM-SLU Partners.
SLU SOM Goals: This page outlined current strategic goals for the SOM. Upon publication of the new 2022 Strategic Plan, this page will be updated
GME QI Goals: The page link here is updated annually as umbrella goals for different Residency Programs/Departments. The Departments provide these as general quality focus areas for the year to help generate ideas and discussion. Individual QI projects can be developed under these general headings and will directly contribute to department wide priorities for QI. This list also enables residents to identify projects in different departments that may be of interest and support system-wide networking.
SLUCare QI Goals: This tab outlines the Five Pillars of Improvement and Quality for the ambulatory care practice
SLU-SSM Health Hospital QI Goals: This tab provides a link to the SSM Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and strategic areas/Current Reports for action for each of the SSM Health St. Louis Hospitals
QI Tools and Instructions: This tab provides access to multiple PS/QI tools from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), eg. PDSA Cycles, Writing Aim Statements, Run Charts, Fishbone Diagrams, etc. For each item, we have provided an Instruction Sheet and the Fillable PDF Form.
QI Methods and Projects: (In Development): Our plan is that this tab will be filled with brief instructional videos, brief introductions by Residency Program Directors, or brief reports on QI projects and their impact by residents and faculty.
Partners and Community Links: The following tabs provide links to outside resources related to Patient Safety and Quality, including:
St. Louis VA Medical Center
Think Health St. Louis provides an overview health status and priorities area for improvement in the St. Louis Metro Area. There are searchable functions by condition that provide data on the County, State, and Federal levels so you can compare target population to other areas. The Think Health site also provided health and demographic data, correlations to Health People 2030 goals, identifies zip codes and census tracks with high level needs and has local resources and promising practices in the region.
ACGME – this tab provides the direct link to Common Goals for all medical residency programs and other ACGME resources
AHRQ – The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality tab specifically links to federal resources, case studies, and survey tools on Patient Safety Culture. SOPS – Surveys on Patient Safety provide specific tools to assess the safety climate in different types of medical settings.
Users: This tab enables access to a searchable database where you can initiate and set up new QI projects, edit/updated projects, provide feedback and input from advisors/mentors, and a searchable database to find any project across the system.
