Our fine Music Club has not always known the glamor with which we have become so accustomed today. It was humble beginnings that saw two young men, Zachary Stikel (Class of '25) and Chris Brzozowski (Class of '24), seeking musical sanctuary: a place in which they might play tasty jams together, aspirations of forming a band brimming in their souls and dancing in their dreams. Thus they began their search, but alas, their dreams were ill-conceived, for no such sanctuary was to be found anywhere upon SLU's campus.
But the will of the boys to shred major riffage would not be quelled so easily. A fire had been ignited in their loins that day, and in a moment which will echo in eternity, the SLU Music Club was founded, our club's inception sparked by the timeless desire of all college musicians for sanctuary: a space on campus where the music never stops, and there is equipment enough for all.
It was not long before the SLU Music Club, continuing its long search for sanctuary, became known for epic concerts that it began hosting, alongside a myriad of other musical events, eventually including our beloved SLUStock: the original SLU music festival, est. 2025.
And so it came to pass that, after years of cutting through red tape and petitioning the SLU administration, the officially ordained Music Club practice room was christened on the fourth floor of 3547 Olive Street: a sanctuary for student musicians, a place for all, to rehearse each and every day, at full volume.
