People in the blind and visually impaired community are challenged by being unable to identify objects that are used in everyday life. Thus, simple tasks to you and me, become not simple at all. Individuals within the visually impaired community need organization within their house, work, and everyday life. Organization is important for their safety and independence. Through our expansive research, cooking in the kitchen was found to be one of the biggest difficulties. Distinguishing spices and measuring the right quantities becomes a burden, and everyone deserves food that tastes good. Our product measures and dispenses spices using only the voice. By connecting an Alexa voice recognition system to a Raspberry Pi and two servo motors, we are able to automate the process of measuring and dispensing different volumes and types of spices. Someone using this device should be able to ask an Amazon Alexa system to dispense a specified weight or volume of their desired spice. The Alexa system should then communicate to the Raspberry Pi to actuate the servo motor of the specified spice, while simultaneously weighing the dispensed amount. Once the threshold is reached, the servo motor will return to its original position, and a cup will be filled with the user's requested amount of spice.
