The RECKglove is a device consisting of a glove containing three sensors. The sensors are temperature, electrodermal activity (EDA) and pulse oximeter. In the event of opioid usage physiological changes such as increase in sweat, lowering of heart rate and oxygenation, and lowering of temperature will be detected by the glove. The need for this device arises from the opioid epidemic in this country which costs the lives of approximately 130 citizens every day. Current drug testing methods are easily falsified and do not give immediate feedback, making accountability difficult for patients, families, and rehab centers. Continuous monitoring would make it easier for healthcare professionals to take immediate action in a crisis, give addicts a chance for personal accountability and help give families peace of mind.
