Calendar of 100 Year Celebration Events

October 10th - 4:30 pm at Tegeler Hall Auditorium

Screening of The Right to Read

As part of our celebration of 100 years of educating educators, we are pleased to invite you to a special screening of the award-winning 2023 documentary, The Right to Read. Directed by Jenny Mackenzie and executive produced by LeVar Burton, the film highlights the stories of an activist, a teacher, and two American families fighting to provide children with the most fundamental key to life-long success: the ability to read.

The event is organized by Glenda Nelson, a second-year graduate student, and will take place on Thursday, October 10th at 4:30 pm in Tegeler Auditorium. Following the screening, which lasts approximately 70 minutes, Dr. Ian Buchanan will host a discussion on the critical issues raised in the film. There will be light refreshments.

We believe this screening offers a powerful opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue about literacy as a civil rights issue and explore how we, as educators, can work to ensure all students receive the high-quality education they deserve. We hope you can join us for this important event.
