Calleigh Nolan

ARTIST STATEMENT

My artwork takes a view of the abstract, bright, and uplifting views of the world. Encouraging those to use their imagination and see the beauty in the place that they live in every day.

I try to create an energetic and playful feel in my works to invite the audiences to see my perspective and how they can change theirs to a more positive outlook.

My pieces mostly consist of working with acrylic paint, watercolor, and colored pencils. Although watercolor being difficult to use my favorite piece I created was my “Blind Contour Abstract Water Color Painting”. I used different hues and tints of blue in a mosaic like pattern as well as a contrast of bold lines and warm tones in the drawings in people to create unity throughout the completed work.

In contrast to the watercolor media I started a series of Surreal Drawings onto Photographs this year by creating cartoon-like images onto peaceful photographs from my hometown, and incorporating this important place to my work.

I hope you enjoy and can connect to your inner child like self to see the world in a different way, a more unique way!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

My name is Calleigh Nolan! I've lived in Kingston, Massachusetts my whole life. I attended Silver Lake Regional High School for my high school years and have now committed to Endicott College for Exercise Science!

I've always enjoyed creating art since it fills me with joy, relaxation, and more importantly happiness.

Something I recommend all people to do when they are having a hard time is to let your stress out and manage it by creating art! Quarantine was one of the hardest situations on so many people and art was something I was constantly doing and I created most of these pieces on this site during those unprecedented times!

ALBUM COVERS

During quarantine I created multiple acrylic paintings of my favorite album covers. My favorite one I created was "Flower Boy" by Tyler, The Creator in the top left corner. I loved repeating the sunflowers as well as recreating the fluffy clouds in the bright sky surrounded by bees!

ASSEMBLAGE DRAWINGS

This series of drawings was made with colored pencils on just regular paper. I was required to make an assemblage from miscellaneous items around my house and take photos from different perspectives and put them together. My assemblage had a blue and reflective theme using crayons, bottle caps, cookie cutters, bracelets, and beads!
