Is your student reading below grade level? Struggling with Math? Our afterschool ELA and Math Academies could help. Taught by our amazing teachers in a small group setting, students gain vital Math and ELA skills to help them during the regular school day. The program includes specific connections to the English Language Development standards with supports for English learners in speaking, reading, writing, and phonics. Currently, we are active in Paso Robles and Guadalupe, but we soon hope to launch programs in Nipomo, Lompoc, and Orcutt. In addition to academic support, students also have opportunities to celebrate their cultural heritage, build strong friendships, and have fun!
The Family Biliteracy program is a twelve-session course, which brings parents and their preschool-age children together to participate in literacy and academic learning activities in preparation for kindergarten. With the goal that families will continue to work on the skills learned in class, they will receive copies of the bilingual books used in class along with a family project take-home kit for each book. In this class, bilingualism is celebrated!
To support our students academically, we offer both in-person and virtual bilingual tutoring services. Currently, virtual sessions meet via Zoom on Mondays and Fridays from 5-6pm for grades 4-8, and Mondays/Wednesdays for High School students. In-person tutoring is available in Paso Robles and Santa Maria. Contact us for more information!

In December, we also partner with our neighboring Direct Funded District, Santa Maria Bonita, to host one huge Parenting Conference. Over one thousand people came out to hear Tony Orozco from Disciplina Positiva, attend workshops, and gather resources from dozens of local community agencies. What a day!
Math is a frightening word for many students (and parents!). To help build Mathematic confidence and skill, we host virtual Saturday Math Academies, allowing students to sharpen Math skills from the comfort of their own home. Classes are full this Spring, but stay tuned for opportunities this summer and fall 2025.

Don't let those Math and ELA skill muscles get weak over the summer! We're excited to offer Math and ELA classes via Zoom for grades K-5 in June through our friends at STEM Center USA. Focusing on applied Mathematics, students complete hands-on projects and learn about Latino/a mathematicians, scientists, writers, and artists.
For grades 6-10, our local teacher/tutor extraordinaire Mrs. Vazquez will be leading ELA and Math sessions via Zoom. Contact us for more information or to sign up for ELA and Math Summer programs!
Each summer, our local migrant high school students are invited for a week of hands-on Math learning on the beautiful Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo campus. During the week, students are challenged to experiment, problem-solve, collaborate, and build as they complete various Math challenges that help them see real-world examples of Mathematical concepts. They also participate in various team-building activities designed to grow them as leaders. When the week wraps up, students emerge with sharper Math and leadership skills, a vision of life on a university campus, and a bunch of new friends! We had a great time last year and are so proud of our young Math scholars! This year, the Academy has opened up to middle schoolers! Middle School week is July 7-11, 2025 and High School week is July 14-18, 2025. Contact us to enroll!
Similar to our Preschool Academy during the regular school year, this program supports 3-5 year olds and their families. Through song, art projects, and reading bilingual books, young students gain skills they'll need for Kindergarten. Families will be provided with all materials needed for this fun and exciting class.
This summer, the focus is on parents of K-6 students and helping them support their children develop as readers. Reading is a foundational skill tied to success in all the other subjects, and many parents struggle with how to motivate their young ones to become confident readers. Join us this June for three Friday sessions on this vital topic!
