How will I know what my child is expected to do?
Short Answer: You will not. All of our classrooms are based on Google Classroom during Remote Learning. As a result, only your child will be able to see what assignments they owe. My recommendation is to ask your child to log into their Google Classroom so you can see what they need to complete. For my class specifically, you have access to my weekly agenda. Starting next week, I will have links to Google Classroom showing them exactly what needs to be done!
Will Livestreaming be available?
No. We will be offering office hours so students can check in face to face with their teacher, but all direct instruction will be delivered through videos posted to Google Classroom. There are times that each teacher will be available to meet if needed. Please contact the teacher for more information.
Can my child work on this at any time during the day?
Yes. However, attendance is being taken by the school each day. So, your child needs to show up to their classes before 2pm. I would encourage the students to work during the school day, because their teachers will all be present and able to help. If they work in the evening, we will not be able to be readily available.
Parents & Guardians,
Welcome to 6th and 7th Grade! I am Mrs. Magnotto, and I will be your child's math teacher this year. My favorite part of every school year is the first part of the year. This year, although unusual for some, will be no different! I would like to reassure you that we are doing everything we possibly can to ensure your child's safety at school. My yearly goal of providing a safe and fun learning environment that promotes student engagement and critical thinking has not changed. At school, we will be working extremely hard. I will push your child to be a better student and person. I expect them to give me their best effort and to keep working until they are proud of themselves. As a parent, you know your child better than anyone. I ask that you are open with me about their needs, strengths and weaknesses. I also ask that you support them when needed, but allow them to be challenged. They will be successful this year because they are going to work hard AND because they know you are cheering them on. I am really looking forward to working with you and your child this school year. My appreciation for your patience as we begin a very new school year is hard to measure! If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Magnotto

*Calculators: We will be using calculators this year. I only have 30, so they cannot leave the classroom. However, if you would like to purchase one for at home use, please do. THIS IS NOT A REQUIREMENT. We use the TI-34 MultiView.
Google Classroom will be updated weekly. If your child is streaming, all of their work will be posted to Google Classroom. Their weekly agendas will be posted on this site and classroom. Please make sure that you and your child look over Classroom within the first week of school. In the event we transfer to remote learning, Google Classroom will be the mode of education.
