Welcome to 1st grade! My name is Mrs. Amatruda and I'm so happy to be your 1st grade teacher for the 2025-2026 school year! This is my 13th year teaching, however, it is my fourth year here at Spring Lake Heights! My husband and I live in Brick with our two year old boy Miles and our golden retriever Sadie!

I graduated from Marist College with my degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education. I also have my Masters degree in Instructional Technology. Prior to joining SLH, I was a Kindergarten teacher for five years and a Special Education teacher for grades K-2 for four years in a district in Northern NJ.
My goal for this school year is to create a classroom community where students feel safe to take risks, where they are able to explore their love of learning through their interests, and to cultivate a classroom community of kindness.
