Basics

Hello!
My name is Mrs. Howland—though many of the students may still know me as Miss K. I recently got married, so I’m navigating a fun transition with my new name this school year!

I grew up in this area and recently bought a home in Brick. I love spending time at the beach, swimming in my pool, and talking about my favorite things—my Golden Retriever, Lincoln; Notre Dame sports; traveling; Tandem Cycle workouts; and most importantly, my husband, family, and friends.

I’m a Special Education teacher here at Spring Lake Heights Elementary School, working primarily with our middle school students. This is my eighth year at SLH, and I’m incredibly excited for another amazing school year ahead!

Professional

I have been teaching for the past 13 years and hold certifications in both Elementary Education and Special Education. I also earned a Master of Arts in Special Education. Before joining the team at Spring Lake Heights, I taught in two other districts, where I gained experience in both general education and in-class resource settings.
