Forensics is a fancy way to say public speaking. The idea behind Forensics is to give students a chance to practice, enhance, and demonstrate their oratory skills.
When you join Forensics, you will select one speaking piece and practice this speech over and over throughout the year. The idea is for you to become an expert on your piece. After signing up for practices, and committing to attend a tournament, you will then present your piece in front of a judge and a small group of your peers from local schools. The judge will score your performance based on set criteria. (See scoring ballots on the categories page.)
At the end of the tournament, awards are given to students for each type of speaking category. Students are recognized for earning 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in their speaking category.
