A Journey Through 45 Years

今年是順利創校四十五周年。四十五周年被稱為『藍寶石禧』。藍寶石極其堅硬，硬度僅次於鑽石，經歷千錘百鍊方能發出耀眼光芒，這正代表著今年學校的主題『堅毅』的精神。《論語》亦言，四十而不惑，五十而知天命。四十五年的順利，正處於不惑和知天命的中間，如一顆成熟而耀眼的藍寶石——既有穩固扎實的學術根基，也有清晰堅定的辦學方向。

早在今年三、四月，學校已經開始為四十五周年校慶的籌備工作做準備。當我和老師們討論慶祝主題時，大家都不約而同地想到：四十多年來，在歷任校監、校長、老師，以及一代代校友的共同努力下，順利創造了許多輝煌的成績。

然而，順利向來秉持低調謙遜的文化，許多精彩的故事、耀眼的成就未曾廣為人知。因此，我們希望藉著這次四十五周年校慶，把「順利人」的故事、師生、校友在各個領域的卓越成就，像藍寶石一樣閃爍耀眼地呈現出來！這就是我們將今年校慶主題定為 “Vision 45: Let our story shine” 的由來。

「恩光滿照，傲立常新」當中的詞語是否很熟悉？

恩光滿照的「恩光」出自校歌「主賜恩光耀我校園」，意思是上主的恩寵與智慧之光充盈滿溢地照耀著學校與每一位師生；

傲立常新的「傲立」則出自校歌「傲立山前山接天」，「傲立」形容學校屹立於飛鵝山前、挺拔不屈；「常新」則代表不斷創新與突破。

整句的寓意就是：在天主豐盛的恩寵與光照下，學校蒙受祝福、茁壯成長；同時，順利憑藉堅毅與自信的姿態，屹立於山巒之間，在時代的洪流中不斷求新求變、歷久常新。順利不會因循守舊，反而立足當下、擁抱變化、勇於創新，積極迎向未來的種種挑戰！

願每一位『順利人』都能承載這四十五年的堅毅，繼續發光發亮！

This year marks the 45th anniversary of Shun Lee's founding. A 45th anniversary is known as a "Sapphire Jubilee." Sapphire is extremely hard, second only to diamond in hardness, and only after enduring countless rounds of refinement can it emit a dazzling brilliance. This perfectly represents the spirit of this year's school theme: "Perseverance." The Analects also say, "At forty, one is no longer perplexed; at fifty, one knows the decree of Heaven." At forty-five, Shun Lee stands right between being free from perplexity and knowing the decree of Heaven, like a mature and radiant sapphire—possessing both a solid and substantial academic foundation and a clear and firm direction for running the school.

As early as March and April of this year, the school had already begun preparing for the 45th anniversary celebration. When I discussed the celebration theme with the teachers, everyone unanimously thought of the same thing: over more than forty years, through the joint efforts of successive supervisors, principals, teachers, and generations of alumni, Shun Lee has created many glorious achievements.

However, Shun Lee has always upheld a culture of low-key humility, and many wonderful stories and brilliant achievements have not been widely known. Therefore, through this 45th anniversary celebration, we hope to present the stories of "Shunleers" and the outstanding achievements of teachers, students, and alumni in various fields in a way that shines as brilliantly as sapphire! This is the origin of our decision to set this year's anniversary theme as "Vision 45: Let our story shine."

Are the phrases in "Grace shines all around, standing proudly and ever new" very familiar?

"Grace" in "Grace shines all around" comes from the school song, "The Lord grants grace to shine upon our campus," meaning that the light of the Lord's grace and wisdom abundantly shines upon the school and every teacher and student.

"Standing proudly" in "standing proudly and ever new" comes from the school song, "Standing proudly before the mountain, the mountain meets the sky." "Standing proudly" describes the school standing tall before Fei Ngo Shan, upright and unyielding; "ever new" represents continuous innovation and breakthroughs.

The meaning of the whole sentence is: under God's abundant grace and illumination, the school is blessed and thrives; at the same time, with perseverance and confidence, Shun Lee stands among the mountains, constantly seeking renewal and change amid the currents of the times, enduring and ever new. Shun Lee will not cling to outdated ways; instead, it stands firmly in the present, embraces change, dares to innovate, and actively meets the many challenges of the future!

May every "Shunleer" carry the perseverance of these forty-five years and continue to shine brightly!
