Volleyball

Welcome to our team page!

The goal of our program is to build positive self esteem and self empowerment through the sport of volleyball. To teach and reinforce volleyball fundamentals and create a program that is successful at meeting the high expectations set by coaches and players. And to create a positive environment where athletes love the game of volleyball.

Check out our Autzen Beer Garden Page for information about how to get your OLCC and sign up for games!

2024 Season Wrap-Up

What a great season it has been! The coaches are so proud of how far each and every athlete has come throughout the season. Each group faced their challenges and came through on the other side, as a team. There is so much promise for our program moving forward, and we are all excited to see how far these athletes go!

We would also like to thank all the parents who signed up for the Beer Gardens, helped at JV/JV2 games, made team dinners, drove kids to and from practice, and/or were present at games to cheer and support. We couldn't do this without all of you and your continued support of the girls and the program!

We will be hosting an SVA Tournament on Saturday, November 16th. All athletes are required to help work this since it is a fundraiser for our program!

The  2024 Volleyball season is finally here and we cannot wait to get started! Here is some important information about registrations, tryouts/practice, what your athlete needs, and Meet The Lions.

Registration:

Before an athlete can practice they need to be registered on FamilyID (scroll down for a comprehensive set of instructions) and have an up to date physical on file in the office. Please do not bring your physical to the coaches in the gym, they need to be turned in to Lena Twyman in the main office. Once you have turned it into her, please bring a signed note to practice saying you are cleared to participate.

Tryouts/practices:

Monday: 8:30 am - 11:00 am and 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Tuesday: 8:30 am - 11:00 am

Wednesday: 8:30 am - 11:00 am and 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Thursday: 8:30 am - 11:00 am

Friday: 8:30 am - 11:00 am and Meet the Lions at 5:00 pm

Saturday: Our program will be traveling to Western Oregon University to watch Bushnell and Western play. The game starts at 5:00 pm. The bus will leave the high school at 2:30 pm.

The first three days of practice will be tryouts. During this time, coaches will be assessing effort, attitude, and skill level. We will be doing minimal coaching as we are trying to assess where each athlete is currently at. We will be tracking measurable outcomes and data to help make our decisions, you can take a look at our skills rubrics here. Our goal is to place each athlete on a team where they will have the most opportunities to play and grow, with the ultimate goal of preparing every athlete to one day make varsity. If cuts need to be made, they will happen at the Wednesday morning practice and teams will be announced at the evening practice on Wednesday.

What Each Athlete Needs for Practice:

Please make sure that all athletes have the following in order to be prepared for practices:

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out, I am happy to help in any way!

Meet the Lions:

On Friday, August 23rd, at 5:00 pm we will meet in the Main Gym for Meet the Lions.

Autzen Beer Garden Sign-Ups are open! It is asked that all athletes have parents/guardians/volunteers sign up to fill two spots at one of the home duck football games in the beer garden. This pays for almost everything our program purchases to make practices and games equal and possible for each team. Without volunteers to fullfill these spots, our program would not be able to function. We will talk more about this at our parent meeting during Meet the Lions, but if you want a head start with sign ups you can do so here!

Uniform Information

When making purchases for the upcoming volleyball season, please make sure to buy white knee pads and shoes. This will be required for varsity this season and for JV/JV2 next season. Please also make sure to buy black spandex with a logo smaller than 1 inch, as required by OSAA. Linked here is an example pair from Nike that works, players are not restricted to wearing Nike and can find cheaper alternatives as long as they meet the requirements.

If you have any questions about purchasing, please reach out to Coach Ladd via Band messaging or email.

Registration is open on FamilyID for Volleyball!

Please make sure all aspects of registration are completed before we start official practices on August 19th. If an athlete does not have everything completed, they may not be eligible to start practices/tryouts until they are completed.
