Locker Placements
In the video, we interviewed some people at our school about their locker placements. They all agree that the locker placements are horrible and needs a change.
The Issue
At San Leandro High, students get random locker placements. They can be anywhere and not near any of your classes and it can be hard getting to your locker and not being late to a class. Everyday, I carry shoes with me for practice at cross country and it is just a hassle and heavy to carry. It would be nice to put it in my locker but the only time I can go to my locker without being late is when there is a class that doesn’t mark students tardy or at lunch where there is more time for eating and talking with teachers, but I already carried it for half of the school day by the time I could get to use my locker. The only things in my locker are things that I will never use ever for my classes whereas, I could've used my locker every day for things that I need to hold.
The Solution
A few solutions to this problem is that the students could choose their locker placements. If they choose the wrong place, the school cannot take the blame and therefore, the student will have to deal with it for making the mistake. Another solution is to have all classes in one school instead of walking back and forth from multiple school. Walking to FTK and the Main school takes about 8 minutes with all of the traffic there is. If there is less people walking back and forth, the students that need to cross the street will go and come faster because they wouldn’t get blocked by others. The final solution I have is to share lockers with someone else. The students can share their lockers with another to have two lockers on each campus.
