The Hate U Give

This shirt signifies a big part of the book and shows kind of the theme of the book which is her trying to get justice for her dead friend and about how the system is kind of messed up.

Opinion:

My opinion on this book is all over the place, It makes me feel angry because of some of the events that took place in the book and how unfair some things were like when the cop killed her friend for having a hairbrush and claiming he felt "unsafe". While i was reading I smiled, laughed, felt anxious, frustrated, and even cried.I recommend this book to all types of audiences but especially teenagers because the point of view being a 16 y/o girl really helps young adults feel more connected because you know of her internal nd external problems as well.

Why this matters..

I guarantee this book will make you feel moved. The fact that a 16 year old black girl is telling the story not only helps the book connect ith teenagers, but also POC and women. The way the character catce the audiences attention is very nice. The book is about all the struggles the girl is going through emotionally such as witnessing her best friend get shot, suppression, racism, relationship, family, and depression. Also eternally like dealing with the press, police, family problems, gangs and court case for her best friend's murder.I think this is very important because it gives out a message about younger people can go through a lot too, something that is very often misinterpreted and is said that teenagers don't need to stress etc.

What You Need To Understand is...

The problems in this book are very much real, and were happening yesterday, right now and will continue in the streets, governments, and teenagers minds every day until we do something to fix it.People assume someone is doing something about it but we need to get together and do something bigger for our community.A teenager should not fear for his life because of the color of their skin and feel like they have to be cautious if they carry around something so slightly bulky in their hoodie that will make a white police officer feel "threatened".
