Outdoor Play and Learning 

At West Coats Primary School, we are proud to be an OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) school, where play is a valued and essential part of every child’s day. Our playground offers a wide range of experiences, including loose parts play, aesthetic and creative areas, physical challenges, gross and fine motor activities, and a dedicated wheely zone for active play. 

In line with Play Scotland’s principles, we believe outdoor play supports children’s wellbeing, confidence, and creativity. We play outside in all weathers, embracing Scotland’s seasons unless there is an adverse weather alert, ensuring every child has rich and varied opportunities to learn and thrive through play.
