P7 Transition

to St. Andrew's

& St. Bride's

DEUS SOLUM SUFFICET - GOD ALONE SUFFICES

At St Andrew’s and St Bride’s HS, our vision is to make the journey from P7 to S1 as smooth as possible for all our youngsters.

In order to achieve this vision, we have in place a transition programme which runs from August in P7 to when they first set foot in the High School as a St Andrew’s and St Bride’s pupil in S1.

The programme in 2019-20 has been very successful so far with the following aspects having already taken place:

  • August 2019 to March 2020 – Curriculum visits from many departments in St Andrew’s and St Bride’s to most primary schools.

  • October 2019 – P7 Welcome Mass.November 2019 – Team Building events

  • November 2019 – P7 Parent Information Evening 1

  • February 2020 to March 2020 – Information gathering visits to primary schools. These visits took place in St Louise and St Hilary’s only

With all schools in Scotland closed, it is unfortunate that the transition programme cannot continue as normal including the cancellation of the P7 Parent Information Evening and the 2 Induction days. However, the transition team is working hard behind the scenes to create a special programme to ensure that you are still looking forward to making the move to St Andrew’s and St Bride’s HS.

From May 11 2020, we will:

  1. Launch our transition twitter page to keep you up to date and allow the transition programme to continue, albeit from a distance. Please follow P7 to SASB by searching for @SASBtransition.

  2. Take you on a virtual tour of the school. This will allow all pupils and parents to “see” around the school and “meet” some key staff you will work with in St Andrew’s and St Bride’s.

  3. Continue to liaise with relevant staff in all primary schools to ensure we know as much about you all as we can.

  4. Produce a Frequently Asked Questions paper containing questions and answers that are asked every year by pupils and parents.

We are looking forward to meeting you all when the schools reopen. Rest assured that we haven’t forgotten about you.
