We aim to inspire pupils to become innovative problem-solvers, logical thinkers, and confident creators in the digital world.
Through our courses, pupils develop practical skills in programming, cybersecurity, data analysis, and digital systems — preparing them for life beyond school and an increasingly digital society.

Stay up to date with all the exciting events, achievements, and activities happening in the BECS Faculty.Â
We offer supported study sessions for pupils preparing for National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher exams.
Supported study will start week of the 3rd March 2026 and run for three weeks (3rd March, 10th March and 17th March) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
You should come to supported study with a purpose - what is the topic/skill/question type that you want to improve. Staff will be asking that question when you arrive. Or are you looking for a quiet place to work.

S1 have been learning how images are stored on the computer and the difference between a bitmap and vector graphic. Using this knowledge, S1 created vector graphics of their favourite cartoon characters. Our Senior Computing Science Ambassadors have chosen a Vector Graphic from each class to be entered into the 2025 Vector Graphic Hall of Fame! Congratulations to those that were picked and well done S1 for all your effort!

We believe in learning beyond the classroom.Â
Our pupils have the chance to take part in:
Pupils are welcome to join our lunchtime Code Club on Wednesdays, where they can explore coding in a fun and supportive environment. The club helps learners develop confidence in computing science through creative projects and problem-solving activities.
Pupils can become Computing Ambassadors, where they represent the department and support younger learners during classes and clubs. Through this role, they develop valuable leadership and communication skills while helping to promote engagement in computing across the school.
Together, these extra curricular activities support the development of key meta-skills such as creativity, self-management, leading, initiative and critical thinking.
By taking part, pupils grow into confident individuals and develop skills that are essential for success in wider school and work life.Â
Studying Computing within the BECS Faculty provides pupils with a wide range of skills that are highly valued by employers and universities.
Our courses help pupils develop confidence in problem-solving, programming, logical thinking, and digital literacy — all essential in today’s technology-driven workplace.
