Before we can make music together, we first need to know a bit about how to make our computers and keyboards work together. In this lesson, we'll learn about how our MIDI keyboard connects to our computer

In our first few sessions, we learned about the classroom procedures and expectations in the music room. Now it is time to actually start making some music. In the Piano Basics Slide Deck, let's review the Introduction and then move on to complete the two parts of Lesson 1a. We'll start by learning to play Hot Cross Buns, then we'll learn how to record our playing and even compose our own short melody using the same form as Hot Cross Buns.

This lesson uses only the first three fingers on our right hand (thumb, index finger, and middle finger). Make sure that you are placing your thumb on the C key, Your index finger on the D key, and your middle finger on the E key.

In this lesson, we will use all five fingers of the right hand,  we will learn the song "Lightly Row", and we will create another composition in Song Maker using a different structure.
