Module Three

Modified Wit & Wisdom® Content for In Sync: To streamline module content, we distributed art instruction in Lesson 5 across Days 5–6, 9, and 12–13. We also categorized New-Read Assessment 2 as Additional Instruction since it only assesses language skills and standards taught in Vocabulary Deep Dives. We recommend you plan for additional days of instruction for major assessments. See Lessons 36–37 in the Wit & Wisdom TE for how to support students with completing and submitting their End-of-Module Task. Focusing Question Tasks 1 and 4 have been modified.

As of January 2021, Adobe no longer supports Flash Player, which makes the following resources from Grade 5 Module 3 unavailable:

· “Compare Two Worlds: North vs. South 1861” Scholastic, Inc. (Lessons 2 and 30)

· “Slavery” slideshow, Scholastic, Inc. (Lessons 3, 4, and 32)

In response, Great Minds has generated a set of resources and lesson revisions to meet the module's original Learning Goals. These resources can be found on the Wit & Wisdom Content Updates Page or the attached PDF. They are also linked in the Digital Teacher Edition in Lesson 2.
