I'm Marcus Sköld, I'm 28 years old and I'm currently living in Sweden, Malmö originally from here too. I'm just about to finish my degree in game development from Malmö University this semester, after finishing my bachelors degree in Mathematics from Lund University at the start of 2019. It's been a long journey but I decided it was the right one, wanting to pursue a career in game development and take part of the joy that comes with it.
I view myself as a relaxed dependable person that thinks before he acts. I often take a step back to review my work and always try to finish what I started. I love solving problems and the challenge of finding the solution and the cause of an issue both when writing code and designing games.
Games have always been a big part of my life and over years of my education I loved analyzing them and started to think about games in a new light. The way games had developed over the years and how they brought joy to people was something I found very rewarding. Having a passion for drawing and design inspired me to design my own card game back in 2017 through Photoshop and Tabletop simulator on Steam. Though finishing my degree I kept working on the game, looking at it through different perspectives, iterating and adding to it with the aid of a few friends as playtesters.
This project was one of the reasons why I decided to make my way into the industry. I wanted to use my mathematical thinking and creativity to create games. It seemed like the perfect fit for both my skill sets and I can't stress enough how my previous education within the field of mathematics and physics have helped me. My main focus in the projects were most towards trying to solve complex programming problems or using my creative skills to make textures and models.
But enough about academics. In my spare time I enjoy playing games of course but I also have a big interest in animals growing up. I make sure to go out each weekend playing Pokemon GO, as long as the Swedish weather allows me. And when it doesn't or after a long day I tend to spend it at home playing something on my Nintendo Switch (preferably pokemon) or Overwatch 2. Recently I've also been playing Tiny Tina's Wonderlands by Gearbox.
