Swami Keshvanand Institute of Technology, Management & Gramothan (SKIT) inspired from the learnings of Swami Keshvanand, was established in the year 2000 by the Technocrats and Managers Society for Advanced Learning. Today the Institute is recognized as one of the centers of academic excellence in Northern India. The Institute is affiliated to Rajasthan Technical University, Kota for offering Postgraduate and Graduate Courses in Engineering and Management. SKIT has been ranked no.1 engineering Institute in Rajasthan by RTU, Kota consecutively for the last four years. Located in the Pink City Jaipur, which is a blend of traditional history and modern outlook, SKIT is putting in efforts for making industry-ready engineers and managers through effective Industry–Institute Interface. Recently SKIT bagged the Outstanding Engineering College of Excellence award by Competition Success Review (2021), AAA rating by Careers360 Survey (2021), position among the top 100 Pvt. Engineering Institutions of India by Outlook Survey (2021), ‘Excellence in Placement’ award by First India (2021), ‘AA’ rating for the third time in SWAYAM NPTEL Ratings 2021 and has been ranked 18th in the top hundred local chapters.
The power system plays a key role in this context. While today’s power system and grid infrastructure have been designed for centralized and controllable power production in conventional power plants, the RES expansion leads to an increasingly uncertain, volatile and decentralized supply. To manage the system safely under these changing conditions, new technological and institutional innovations will be required. Moreover, methods are needed to ensure a dependable operation of existing power grids, but also to support long-term power system planning and design robust future power grids, both on a regional scale supporting micro grid design and on a global scale supporting national and continental transmission planning. Providing efficient optimization methods to support analysis in these different contexts is a major challenge. Different disciplines, including mathematics, economics and electrical engineering, need to cooperate in order to support power system planning, ensuring an affordable, secure and environmentally friendly power supply.
