English is used as the sole medium of instruction and communication in the English language classroom.
Students are helped to develop a good reading habit, especially through the 20-minute morning reading session, the extensive reading scheme and the language arts curriculum.
Students are required to write regularly and helped to develop writing skills in the English language classroom through structured writing tasks especially weekend writing tasks and compositions.
Students are helped to develop and organize their ideas in speaking in the English language classroom through speaking tasks written in the schemes of work. They are also encouraged to attend Chat Room activities during lunchtime and chat with the NET and other teachers.
Students are introduced to different writing genres and styles, for example, analytical, critical, argumentative and persuasive writing.
Students are helped to develop good pronunciation and intonation, and good speaking skills through communicative activities such as drama, debates, discussions, presentations, etc.
Students are helped to develop an aesthetic appreciation of English through language arts.
English is used as the sole medium of instruction and communication in the English classroom.
Students are required to read regularly and extensively English books, English newspapers and materials written in English on the Internet, to expose themselves to the use of the language. This is done through the morning reading session, the book presentation, reading English newspaper regularly in the English classroom, and selected materials from the Internet.
Students are required, through the regular writing tasks in the schemes of work, to extend their writing skills to different writing genres and styles, for example, analytical, critical, argumentative and persuasive writing.
Students are helped to develop speaking skills and confidence through communicative activities such as presentations, debates, drama, discussions, etc., which are emphasized in the schemes of work.
Students are helped to further develop an aesthetic appreciation of and an authentic use of the English through the incorporation of NSS elective modules into the curriculum.
Our curriculum is based on curriculum documents of the Education Bureau and the assessment framework (English Language) provided by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority.
The following are also included in the curriculum to develop students’ sensitivity to language use, their cultural awareness, and their creative and critical thinking by exposing them to a variety of genres. School-based learning materials are prepared for the students.
