Yes, parents you can help out your child to get started with their writing. Then, let them get to work by themselves using different strategies that we have learned in school.
After you are finished with your story, conference with parents. Go over any corrections they have (you can write the word in ( ) AND/OR have them fix their work. Review Non- Negotiable Writing Rules.
We have been working on adding lots of details! No more simple sentences like this... I like baseball. I have fun. INSTEAD- Baseball is a fun sport to play. You can use a bat and ball to try to hit the ball as far as you can! I also like running around the bases. My favorite team is the Yankees! I think you should try baseball because it is a lot of fun!
Do not forget when you draw a picture to go along with your story add labels and/or speech bubbles.
