Classroom Expectations

Students are asked to follow 3 simple rules in the Upper Hall

The Upper Hall Team spends time going over these expectations and instilling in their students the skills needed to acheive them.  There are times when we all fall short.  When this happens, students are given an "notice".  This notice is filled out with how they fell short and it is taken home to be signed by their parent and retured to their teacher the next day.  An accumulation of 3 notices results in an after school detention.

Communication

An Upper Hall newsletter is emailed to parents each Friday.  These are used to communicate what is going on in the classroom and any important dates/activities that are happening in the School.

A Friday Folder is brought home at the end of each week with graded papers.  Parents are asked to review these with their student and then return the signed/empty folder to school with their student on Monday.

Parents are encourage to email their student's teacher with any questions or concerns or to leave a message in the school office.  Teachers are available for conferences before school (7:30-8:00) or after school (3:00-3:30) upon request depending on schedules.  Conferences are also held with every family in early October.

If there is any change in your students' transportation or if they are going to be leaving early, coming in late, or will be absent.  Parents are asked to notify their child's teacher and the school office (office@sjy.org) in advance.

Homework/Google Classroom

Students are expected to write their homework, daily, in their student planners.  All Upper Hall teacher have time built into the classroom for students to complete this expectation.

Students also use Google Classroom and in case of any FID (Flexible Instruction Days), students will login to their Google Classrooms and complete the posted work.

Birthdays

Students may dress down on their birthdays, following the school dress down guidelines.  If their borthday falls on a Friday, they are asked to dress down either on Thursday or the following Monday.  Students must be in uniform on Fridays for school Mass.  If your birthday is over the summer, you may choose your half birthday as your dress down day.

Students are not permitted to bring in food for birthday celebrations.
