The calming space is set up to help you take a break, calm emotions, and reset. The designated place is designed to calm the senses where you can experience calming visual, auditory, and tactile stimuli. It is used as a tool to teach you calming techniques in order to decrease agitation, aggressiveness, irritation, sadness, etc. This gives you the chance to calm yourselves before trying to process the cause of your actions/misbehavior. You can develop skills here that you can use outside of school to benefit their wellbeing; self-awareness, resiliency, and self-care.
