Teaching Philosophy
In pursuit of being a better teacher I have always endeavored to make my lectures as interactive as possible so I can find out what students do not understand during class period and help students understand a given problem so when they leave my class they are not confused and frustrated, but satisfied and confident. I achieved this goal by solving example problems together with the students, conducting demonstrations, and using computer applets next to traditional lectures. That way, the students can actually learn during the lecture and their misconceptions and misunderstandings can be addressed immediately, not only by me, but also by their peers. Thus, I have developed a specific teaching style over the past several years, which uses group work, peer instructions, demonstrations, computer applets, and conversations with students as the main tool for learning in class.
