About

Dr. Owens is an Clinical Associate Professor of pharmacy at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy - St. Joseph's University. His clinical practice sites are located in Cooper University Hospital’s outpatient Internal Medicine clinics. He currently helps to coordinate the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy Teaching and Learning Curriculum Program as well as a 3-year interprofessional IPPE experience centered around the student-run Cooper Rowan Clinic in Camden, NJ.


Dr. Owens earned his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy.  Following graduation, he completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and Family Medicine Faculty Development Fellowship with UPMC St. Margaret Hospital. He became a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist while completing a PGY2 Family Medicine Specialty Residency at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital. Dr. Owens obtained Board Certification in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy in 2018.


Prior to joining the faculty at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, Dr. Owens worked as a clinical pharmacist faculty member of UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency and served as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy.


Professionally Dr. Owens is passionate about interprofessional education and caring for underserved populations. Additionally, he is enthusiastic about the use of technology to facilitate the efficient use of learners' time and to improve patient care.
