Tutoring Appointments
You can schedule one-on-one or small-group tutoring sessions at the Writing Center whenever you need assistance with any piece of writing. We help students of all levels, from all disciplines, and during all phases of the writing process (from first thought to final draft). You can schedule both in-person and online tutoring appointments through our online scheduling system. You can book up to two 45-minute sessions each week, and students registered with the AEC can request an additional (third) session per week by filling out our form to request additional tutoring time.
Open Lab Drop-in Tutoring
During set hours (as posted on our website), we offer online drop-in tutoring sessions via Zoom. This service is intended for when you have quick questions about writing that can be addressed by a tutor within about 10-20 minutes. No appointment is necessary. Simply visit the Open Lab page on our website or ask our front desk staff in the library for more information.
Workshops
The Writing Center offers a full slate of one-hour workshops every semester on various writing topics--from "Common Grammar and Punctuation Errors" to "Body Paragraphs" to "Un-Blurring Plagiarism and Paraphrasing." These workshops are all facilitated via Zoom. Our offerings will always be posted on our workshops and events page, and you can register online.
Online Resources for Self-Study
We have a number of resources posted online in different formats to help you with your writing. You can use our videos and handouts any time for self-study as you are working on your writing. We have a playlist on our YouTube channel of recorded versions of selected workshops, so you can still benefit from the workshop material even if you can't attend one of our live Zoom sessions. We also have an official blog that offers additional tips about writing. We have our Multilingual Writer Toolbox, in which we've compiled resources specifically for multilingual learners. Lastly, we have our Graduate Writer Toolbox, which covers the various potential writing situations a graduate student might encounter.
Special Programs
The Writing Center offers a variety of special programs each semester, such as tabling events. We also facilitate trainings for students on various topics, such as our training session about how to form your own peer writing group. Check out our workshops and events page for the most current information.
