Implementing common core standards
Meeting the requirements of the state’s new Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) legislation and creation of a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP)
What most districts fail to realize is Credential librarians have skills to help implement common core standards and meet the requirements of the states Local control funding formula (LCFF). There is a long withstanding misconception that librarians are solely "keepers of the books." When in reality credentialed school librarians are teachers with additional credentials in information and library science. Additionally librarians are the only horizontal teachers who can co-teach across subject matter. They assist students, faculty, and the community. In addition librarians are the only teachers who can truly allow for student led learning. When students enter the library they can research and inquire about their personal interest. This allows students to be more engaged and open to learning.
