I'm a geographer doing geology research and teaching from a human perspective. My motivation is to do research that promotes care for thriving Earth systems through creative research questions and methodologies. I ask questions like:

How have knowledge systems and cultural practices shaped earth systems now and in the past?

How do knowledge systems and cultural practices help and hinder sustainable futures?

What are the links between our values and motivations as individuals; the actions we take in our work, studies, and everyday life; and the cultures and systems we are part of?

My view? Unsustainable lifestyles, societal structures, and resource use urgently need addressing, but we need much more than technical and political fixes. Solutions can't be based on the same thinking that created the problems in the first place. Things start to happen when our values and motivations align with our research and study, in our own personal and cultural context, in our practical work, and in the political systems we are part of. Join this lab to help me show how!
