This cutting-edge project is to design a Smart Electrical Panel that seamlessly integrates advanced control boards, including RUTX11, Intel NUC, a smart touchscreen panel, and robust features for home automation and energy efficiency. Leveraging SolidWorks, this project aims to create an intelligently designed electrical panel that not only ensures efficient energy management but also provides a user-friendly interface for home automation.
Utilizing a din rail configuration, this panel incorporates circuit breakers, power terminals, and ground terminals, providing a secure and organized setup. The upper DIN rails house the RUTX11 shielded by a sturdy sheet metal design mount, ensuring protection from external elements. Additionally, the Intel NUQ is strategically positioned with its own sheet metal mount, safeguarding it from potential harm.
The image displayed to the left serves as a practical illustration of the utilization of a LeGrand mount to house and secure electronic components. While this setup demonstrates a feasible approach for enclosing and mounting electronics, it was identified that, in the context of our specific application requirements at Cratus Technology Inc.
As the lead designer, I was tasked with creating an enclosure that not only accommodated the control PCBs and a light switch but also met stringent manufacturing standards, including tolerance analysis, flow simulation, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). The design process involved a detailed analysis of an existing model, noting every dimension to recreate and optimize the design. This required extensive CAD work and flow simulations for thermal management, in collaboration with the manufacturing team, to ensure the enclosure was both functional and manufacturable.
