Candidacy Forms!
When you are in the last year of your graduate program, it is time to petition to advance to candidacy. Having your candidacy approved outlines your plan toward graduation. This process unfolds as easy as . . .
Review the instructions, follow the sample, and complete a draft of your Candidacy Form.
Send your completed form to your advisor at least 10 days before the due date so that they can review it. Note: revisions are often needed.
Once approved, prepare your form for Docusign. Have it signed in this order: 1. You, 2. Your advisor, 3. The Graduate Program Coordinator.
Email your signed form to our GAPE evaluator, Vuong Vu @ vuong.vu@sjsu.edu (copy your EDCO advisor on the email)
Wait, when do I need to complete my Candidacy Form?
The semester BEFORE you plan to graduate, you will need to complete your Candidacy Form.
Ok, when is it due?
Spring Graduates: Signed forms submitted to the GAPE office by October 1
Fall Graduates: Signed forms submitted to the GAPE office by April 1
